The GE Rx3i PAC System

June 05, 2025

The GE Series 6 PLC was first introduced in 1981. Originally, the series was manufactured under model 6600 and model 6000 before it was renamed the Series 6. There was very little difference between these three models the only difference was the size of available memory and the “instruction set,” or the list of commands that the unit is able to recognize.

Eventually, the Series 6, 6600, and 6000 were combined into one unit that GE called the Series 6+. The 6+ had a memory capacity of 4K to 80K. To upgrade the memory, you only needed to change out the logic memory card and sometimes, it was necessary to replace the logic control. In its heyday, the Series 6+ was one of the fastest processors on the market, as it used multiple 4-bit processors in parallel to achieve 16-bit processing. The resulting processing speed was 1,000 data words of instruction per millisecond.

We maintain a huge inventory of Series 6 PLC parts; we have almost every kind of controller card in stock for this type of PLC. Our staff has extensive experience with legacy GE products, and we know how to troubleshoot the Series 6, 6600, 6000, and 6+ systems.
